The Concept of Ergonomic Trends
Do you remember the corporate mullet? When we wore pajama pants and a work-appropriate shirt for Zoom meetings at the peak of the pandemic. It was business on the top and a party on the bottom. Remember how comfortable you were in your jammies at home?
Remember going to the grocery store and then getting back into your car and ripping off your mask like you were a surgeon who just finished a ten-hour surgery and your patient had a close call? Then you would sanitize your hands and hope that you didn't just get exposed to the virus. Remember how stressful that was? Two years later in 2022, Stress and comfort are the key items we are still trying to solve. The majority of the trends in the workplace and in ergonomics are centered around helping employees feel at ease when they do come into the workplace.
Buzzwords like “ hotelification” and “purposeful presence” are trending because of hybrid work ( also super trendy). For employers, ensuring that when employees do arrive at work they are happy and feel taken care of has shown to be at the top of the list. Because work environments now have some competition. They are now competing with the comfort and peace that employees have in their homes. For lack of better words, if employers want employees to come into the workplace they had to thoughtfully step their game up. Here's how they did it with ergo in 2022:
Ergonomics is now included in total wellness
Biophilia in ergonomics is growing ( pun intended)
Ergonomics in the metaverse
Variation in spaces
Convenient ergonomic equipment
