#Adulting is hard, so I am constantly looking for ways to reduce my stress. Stress is terrible #obvi, and one reason is that it makes your body more susceptible to injury and can exacerbate ergonomic discomfort. This is because of the reduction in blood flow to tense muscles. One of my favorite ways to reduce my stress is by using aromatherapy (also called essential oils.) Every morning before work, I start the day off by praying that I have a secret trust fund that my parents just haven't told me about yet. After I come to terms with my reality, I choose an essential oil and turn on my office diffuser, and I get to work. Using essential oils has really helped me to stay chill while working. And I can honestly tell you that there is nothing like feeling zen when typing a strongly worded email.
There are so many benefits of using aromatherapy. My favorite benefit is that aromatherapy can boost the feeling of relaxation. Experts say that essential oils may activate areas in the brain, such as The Limbic system. The Limbic system is the part of the brain that deals with emotion and memory and sometimes behaviors. The Limbic system may respond to the oil by creating feel-good brain chemicals like serotonin. We #love serotonin.
Aromatherapy can also help to ease anxiety and improve sleep. It may even help to alleviate pain and fight bacteria on the skin when used topically.
You can also choose an essential oil based on what mood you want to be in. I have different smells for different moods, but my favorite scent to use while working is lemongrass.
For Focus and Concentration: Cypress, Lemon, Lemongrass, Rosemary
For Balancing: Bergamot, Geranium, Juniper, Lavender, Sandalwood

It probably is not be the best idea to use aromatherapy if you are in a shared workspace, so please consult with your coworkers before. We #love a thoughtful coworker.
I wish you love and light!
