The Concept of Netflix & Ergonomics
Hello! While we are working hard to make money to afford our avocado toast and pay off our student debt we often take solace in our relaxation time. With hundreds of hours of tv streaming available at our fingertips, it is no wonder that we choose to spend our free time binging on shows. It is easy to get wrapped up in laying in a bad posture for hours only to realize that you have not moved until the " Are you still watching" screen pops up. While I would never suggest for you to stop binging on shows, ( It is my only hobby) I would like to give some helpful #millennialergonmic tips for binging.
1. Stand up when the intro is playing. I know you have the option to skip the intro but, try to use that time to stand up and increase blood circulation. My typical goal is to not sit for more than 50 minutes at a time to avoid static posture.
2. Try not to slouch if you are sitting on the couch.
3. Make sure your tv is far enough from you, so you are not straining your eyes.
4. Make sure your that your screen is positioned correctly so that your neck is neutral.
5. If you are watching Netflix on your cell phone, prop it up on a surface, do not hold it. The position that we hold our cell phones in is often an awkward posture. Awkward posture+ static posture = not good.
